Sadie
Lewis Therapy
Speech and language assessments, advice and therapy.
If you are worried about your child's speech and language development
at all please get in touch. If I think that therapy is not needed,
I will say so. If therapy would be of help you'll have the choice
of a well equipped clinic or through sessions in your child's school
or nursery.
More than one in ten children have speech or language difficulties.
This will affect the child in a variety of different ways. They
may become withdrawn or frustrated. It will impact on the way they
learn at school and how they make friends.
Speech and Language Therapy will help them to learn the vital skills
needed to over come this. Children with speech and language
difficulties need to be helped through the stages of speech and
language development rather than 'absorbing' them from the language
around them. This is a 'team approach' with parents, teachers and
therapists focused on your child.
Liaison with parents and teachers is seen as key to the development
of the child's communication skills.
If your child has an NHS therapist, following your consent, Sadie
will liaise with NHS Therapist. She will also link in with other
Professionals to help everyone working with your child to understand
the communication difficulties your child may have.
Some
children need intensive therapy over a long period of time to help
them reach their potential. Others will need those around them to
help them in a 'low key' way with gentle encouragement. Most children
with speech and language problems need something in the middle of
these two approaches! Sadie will be very honest with you when discussing
your child's therapy needs.
